This is a quick read biography on Sacagawea She was put in a very difficult situation early on but always seemed rise to the occasion From her kidnapping early on and forced marriage to a hot tempered Charbonneau, the book simply displays a very strong, mature young lady making the most out of her situation She becomes a valuable and irreplaceable asset to Lewis and Clark She is respected and looked to for guidance from the men on the expedition Without it being said, it is quite obvious This is a quick read biography on Sacagawea She was put in a very difficult situation early on but always seemed rise to the occasion From her kidnapping early on and forced marriage to a hot tempered Charbonneau, the book simply displays a very strong, mature young lady making the most out of her situation She becomes a valuable and irreplaceable asset to Lewis and Clark She is respected and looked to for guidance from the men on the expedition Without it being said, it is quite obvious that Charbonneau was not nearly as valuable or brave as his young bride Enjoyed it I am not one to read non fiction It s almost always too brutal for me.This book was aimed at 6th graders so it wasn t too gruesome I am sure there are a lot of awful truths to Sacagawea s story.I learned or relearned a lot from this book I don t remember knowing that Sacagawea s cowardly white husband went along on the journey I do sort of remember that she had just given birth and was carrying along her newborn. This entire trip seemed unlikely These people must have been very motivated I am not one to read non fiction It s almost always too brutal for me.This book was aimed at 6th graders so it wasn t too gruesome I am sure there are a lot of awful truths to Sacagawea s story.I learned or relearned a lot from this book I don t remember knowing that Sacagawea s cowardly white husband went along on the journey I do sort of remember that she had just given birth and was carrying along her newborn. This entire trip seemed unlikely These people must have been very motivated I really thought it was great when Sacagawea made sure that she got to see the ocean. The artwork in this book is really amazing It really brought the story to life 1 Title I Am Sacagawea2 Rating 4 stars3 Review The book brings a detailed, complex historical tale down to a beginning reading level which is easy to understand The book includes maps of the journey, while using illustrations to show the journey My only critique is that the book tells its tale from a very westernized perspective, which it may have been nice to hear it from an alternative perspective.
