I liked Jason a lot He is admirable how he works with his disability even with the occasional fit of pride or verbal harshness he is really funny I would date him anytime.Heather was the one I wanted to choke with her indecisiveness I think its cruel to promise your disabled half the world and forever and then take that promise back when the partner got used to it and counts on it I have trouble to understand why Heather screamed foul play when she could have informed herself before she made her promises To me it belongs to the process of getting to know a person and understanding the limitations of the disabilities they might have. Review: I found this to be a really compelling read, a real page turner Such an original idea for a storyline, I've never read a love story between a sighted person and a visually impaired person, that's for sure and it was a real experience The love story wasn't really any different because of on persons vision, there is the usual build up and roller coaster of emotions but the issues they come across and the problems they face are definitely different form the usual coupe The storyline starts of fairly pacey, introducing us to the characters and their blossoming relationship but parts of the book do slow down a little bit, giving the impression that you're going through each and every issue with the characters It is a bit like sitting in traffic sometimes you're going along fine, nice and quickly and other times you are suddenly crawling along, stuck in a fight with these two main characters This was really clever writing because it involves you so much in the plot and the novel as a whole I loved Heathers character She was realistic, was driven in her teaching career and loathed to give up her independence to be in a relationship Jason, however, I wasn't so keen on, in fact I did spend the novel hating him (I'm really sorry!) He was a cute, sensitive guy but had a massively short temper and was really bad at being flexible to accommodate others I think I disliked him so much because I know guys like this and really don't like them so it hit a bit too close to home, but he caused his friends and family so much hurt with the short temper I just couldn't warm to him and embrace him like I might have done There are some wonderful supporting characters in this story too, amongst Jason's family and Heathr's friends The blindness was dealt with really well and I think it takes a lot of courage to write a character with some sort of disability, but I think it was written really well, acknowledged and yet not what the whole story was about There are some real highs and lows in this book, I laughed and I cried, I loved and I hated and I was amazed by things I didn't know about visual impairment Overall I really enjoyed reading this book and it's definitely one that stayed with me long after I finished! #READ BOOK Ä Love in Sight Ä Jason knows what he wants out of life, even if he can't see itLike most people, Jason's looking for that elusive happilyeverafter But although he's goodlooking, athletic, funny and charminghe's starting to realize that his white cane isn't exactly a chick magnet When he meets Heather, he can't believe such a sweet, smart, beautiful woman is falling for him Best of all, she doesn't seem bothered by his occasional runin with a lowhanging tree branch or inability to color coordinate They soon become inseparable But as they begin to negotiate their life together, they encounter obstacles even his white cane can't navigate While Jason's dreams seem to be slipping from his grasp, he's forced to face his insecurities and accept who he isd maybe see things clearly than ever beforeLove in Sight is a novel about coming to terms with what you can live with and what you can't live without 4.5 🌟This is an emotionallycharged view into the lives of two people in love; he, Jason, is blind and she, Heather, is not The story centers around the love between Jason and Heather Some friends and family have their doubts that Heather will stick around because in the past, after one or two dates the women have bailed To all of the naysayers, Heather is in the relationship for the long haul She dreams of marriage and children—a dream sh’s had for a long time Both feel that they have found “the one”.One of the most salient aspects of the book explore how Jason navigates in his world He and Heather grapple with the sacrifices each has to make to accommodate the other and the frustrations that they’ve never experienced before The very real prospect of having children arises: will their children inherit the disease that is the cause of Jason’s blindness? How will Jason be able to help Heather with a newborn and other important unforeseen issues that may arise? These and myriad other circumstances reveal themselves Will Heather break under pressures she may feel? Will Jason’s regimented lifestyle and his feelings of inadequacy tear the couple apart? Ultimately, only one question is paramount—is the love they have for each other—enough?Sex, per se, was not a part of this book We know that Heather and Jason have sex when it is mentioned in conversation between them Yes, they have sex, and it’s good, it’s pleasurable, and they can’t wait to do it again Beyond that, we must use our imaginations I would have preferred a few really hot sex scenes, but I also prefer to have a few million dollars and my own island Oh well, can’t have everything. This book was fantastic in a number of ways, but it was instructive without trying to be so I learned a great deal about the everyday life of Jason as a high school teacher, a friend and a lover who happens to be blind The book gave me a glimpse into the life of a sighted woman who shares her life with a blind man, one with whom she wishes to marry and have children This book was superb, and I was emotionally spent after reading it I highly recommend this book for all those interested in romances involving a blind love interest or one with other disabilities. Holly Gilliatt is a newtome author and I'm so looking forward to readingfrom her Jason and Heather's story was so muchthan I expected This was such a heartwarming and emotional read for me and it was hard at times to read Jason and Heather struggle with his blindness I loved Jason's character so much and felt so sorry for the things that happened to him He wasn't an alpha badass but just a genuinely nice guy~he was funny, smart and charming They were such a fun couple and I was rooting so hard for them to find their HEA So Good!! I only wish there had been an epilogue There was something that happened that totally shocked me as I was so not expecting it And I have to say that it KILLED me UGHI so wish that Holly hadn't gone that way Especially because of how it affected Jason So sad So.I really enjoyed the story and definitely recommend it Thanks Holly for writing a story that entertained me with characters that felt so real to me with their struggles and had me so involved in them and their story from the very beginning Didn't want to see it end OhI almost forgotI LOVED LOVED LOVED the prologue Jason just about melted my heart.5 out of 5 rating. This book was fantastic! I had to keep reminding myself throughout that this is only the second book written by this author Heather is a high school teacher going to graduate school She's asked out by a classmate, Jason, and he is blind She never thought about him other than being the blind guy in her class but after having coffee with him several times after class, she falls for him Jason, has been blind since he was 14 due to a genetic disease He's also a high school teacher so has something in common with Heather He loves the way Heather smells and finally gets the courage to ask her out on a date, other than just coffee after class He falls hard for her.Their relationship is exciting and rocky He has a hard time having to depend on anyone due to his blindness and really hates having to ask Heather's help with anything but she's a trooper and isthan willing to help him out whenever he needs it She doesn't perceive this as a weakness like he does. They start talking about their future together and Heather expresses concerns over what would happen when/if they have children There are so many ups and downs in their relationship that you can't help be go along for the ride and see where it takes you This book was incredible I'm still thinking about it even though I finished it several days ago I love books that make me keep rereading excerpts in my mind days afterwards I highly recommend to everyone and if I could give this bookthan 5 stars, I would. This is a soft and gentle love story with a deeper side, making it an interesting read that demonstrates real character depth Mark, in particular, stood out to me as very well described and surprisingly it was his story and personality that jumped off the page at me.The way in which Gilliatt looks in a serious and honest way at the harsh realities of blindness, both from the perspective of the blind person and the person who shares their life, is very indepth, looking at everything from the tiniest detail to big issues in both lives and the fall out this causes Gilliatt also shows the impact on close family and how this can be both heaven sent but cause issues when the new partner is trying to find a way to fit in The delicate nature of life, the harsh realities of daytoday life and how these all mesh into each other’s lives feature heavily in Love in Sight, along with how both unstoppable events and choices made by each of the players have a domino effect that creates an interesting backstory.A good and thought provoking read but this, for me, is a Sunday afternoon with a bar of chocolate and a big box of tissues rather than an easy sunny holiday read review by Noemie T Verlan on behalf of BestChickLit.com Enjoyed this story Heather and Jason meet during graduate classes at the university However, Jason is blind but that doesn't stop him from meeting Heather and asking her out They fall in love (wouldn't be a romance without that!) and decide to get married However, they both have some adjusting to do Jason has to realize that not everyone is as perfect as he is and to bend to his rules/way of life takes adjustment He is used to it since he has been blind since age 12.Many times during this book I wanted to shake Jason and tell him to grow up, that not everything is always about him and that for Heather to change her lifestyle to accommodate him was a sign of true love Plus a short temper wasn't good for anyone.there is a tragedy near the end but it is the catalyst that helps Jason over that hump Another good book by Holly! Great read Would have been a 5 star one except (view spoiler)[ That I hate the author killed off Mark I don't trust authors who kill off beloved characters and I'll be extremely careful about reading anything by this author again (hide spoiler)] How much would you be willing to sacrifice for love? You see in my mind if it was truly love there would be no sacrifice to be made.Jason is a good looking, intelligent, athletic, fun loving, charming single man who wants to find his happy ever after I may have left one small detail out, you see Jason is blind Fiercely independent, living life on his terms he is stubborn to a fault and determined to conquer all life has to offer.Heather is rebuilding her life after a bad breakup She sets the stakes high in all aspects of her life and like Jason has a fierce determination to live life the way she see fit. This is the story of Jason and Heather A love story with a unique twist It presents us with two people who become friends first and then fall in love It is a story that leads us on a journey of what it takes to make a relationship work when one of the people involved has a disability. The author provides a unique insight into the characters and their many dimensions You see as the story progresses we are treated to the many emotions that are encountered when trying to adjust to someone who has special needs based on their disability We are provided two views on this giving us a clear picture of what each character goes through on an outward level as well as an emotional level The story also shows us warmth and love as the relationship between Jason and Heather evolves We are graced with happy, loving times and we also face the fear and frustrating times.I loved that the author included insight into the backstory of Jason and how his illness progressed I felt that this provided a deeper understanding of Jason I also enjoyed the family aspect of this book Though Jason’s mother and father play a small role, I found that they provided wisdom that added so much to the story Out of all of the characters in this book the one that had the biggest impact on me was Jason’s brother Mark There was something so refreshing with his need to protect and the fierce honestly he provided I found that some of the most profound words in this book for me at least were the ones Mark shared I also enjoyed the detail the author went into revolving around Jason’s job I found the friendships and conflicts added to this story and it also provided us with another view into Jason. The story of Jason and Heather show us what life is like for the person who is blind, how it effects families and friends and how and what adjustments need to be made to incorporate yourself into that person’s life.More so it is a story of love and what you are willing to do to capture that once in a lifetime feeling A realization of knowing that you are a better person when you are with the one you love Also knowing that sometimes we question what we are willing to hold onto and what we are willing to let go of It is a story of finding out who you are, what you want and if you are willing to make the adjustments necessary to live your happy ever after.Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book directly from the author I was not paid to read or review this book All opinions are my own, and I was never influenced by anything or anyone.
