From the very onset, the story had grabbed my attention and kept me hooked Raymond Lee s writing style and story telling style must be applauded for that The ending of this held a big surprise Now I m eagerly waiting to see what story will be told in the next book.Mark Westfield did a good job with the narration His delivery was perfect and matched the pace of the story And there are no audio quality issues It s simply not good Once the mysterious CROSS member, kind black uncle who doesn t take kindly to side glances from someone wondering why his niece is white, it goes completely off the rails. The Walking Dead references are now dated I should have stopped when the vengeful ex girlfriend showed up to harass her dying ex boyfriend after 2 years apart, still jealous of his mail order bride Olga Cringe. #Read Pdf á Mail Horror Bride ã From Russia, With Love How do you destroy your enemy Go for the heart, then take over the brain The Z virus, created by Russia s most skilled scientists, is the deadliest biological weapon in history Harbored in the human bloodstream, it remains undetected until detonated Once detonated, the host becomes a walking corpse with only one goal Eat everyone And now it is in America, packaged in the mail order brides the Russians shipped over to destroy us all With the disease now running rampant and no cure yet discovered, it is every uninfected person for himself Homes are destroyed and the families inside them torn apart Relationships can help or hurt as those left uninfected discover they are not entirely untouched by the disease Follow a group of strangers as they struggle to do anything necessary to survive without losing their humanity in the process Some will win this challenge Most will lose It s a new world and the zombies aren t the only monsters They re just the easiest to recognize in a country gone horribly wrong Thousands of Russian mail order brides were sent to the US with a deadly virus injected into them It wasn t till the Russians pushed the kill button that the virus activated and the mail order brides died and became Zombies Only thing is that the virus can be spread through sex and or biting, so every man they had sex with got the virus, though it wasn t activated in them till they died When the virus is unleashed, it s so fast and unexpected that the US is taken by surprise Within a matter Thousands of Russian mail order brides were sent to the US with a deadly virus injected into them It wasn t till the Russians pushed the kill button that the virus activated and the mail order When the virus is unleashed, it s so fast and unexpected that the US is taken by surprise Within a matter of days the country is overrun and all that s left to do is survive This was such a pleasant surprise The name and cover are a bit off putting and made me think this was a cheesy Zombie book, but believe me when I say that it s not It s a story of survival, it s a journey through the minds of people left amid chaos We have a cast of multiple characters so I m not going to go through them all I will say that they are all well written and developed They are quite a colourful cast too We have Raven, a teen who is on holiday with her family when the outbreak happens She is looking after her 9 yr old sister but she succumbs to the Zombies and poor Raven carries that guilt with her We have Maura, who is crazy with a capital C She goes to her exes house intent on revenge because he left her for a Russian mail order bride Of course she finds him in a bad way This girl is seriously crazy but I m not going to say what she does because that would spoil it Lol We also have Cruz, a Hollywood actor who hears voices in his head when he doesn t take his medicine Throw in a fugitive and a girl with no remorse and you have the cast of this The plot, while definitely fictional, is totally believable I mean the idea of a dormant virus being injected into unsuspecting girls could happen It just wouldn t reanimate them Anyway, this was a seriously excellent survival tale It s not the blood and guts Zombie book but one of focusing on the characters and the aftermath of the virus We get to see the outbreak happen, then we get to see different groups surviving and ultimately meeting up I loved this and listened to it in a day, though that ending was killer, literally Haha Definitely can highly recommend While Mark Westfield did a good job considering all the characters, I found his reading to be a little flat at times I wantedintenseness and energy when the Zombies were there Also a few of the characters sounded the same I still enjoyed it though I received a copy of this for review This in no way affects my thoughts This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers To view it, click here I love zombies I m pretty sure I ve made that comment with each zombie related story I read or listen to I don t think there has been a zombie story that I ve ever given a low rating to, not that I can think of anyway Zombies are cool but scary at the same time This was a great listen It was fast paced and held my attention the entire time it was even hard to put down at times I can t wait to listen to book 2 The narrator did a great job I d listen to him again I wasn t sure but was ve I love zombies I m pretty sure I ve made that comment with each zombie related but was very curious to hear his voices once he started the dialogue parts because his narrating voice was so low, in my opinion But he nailed it Question Comments I don t remember what chapter it was in, somewhere near the beginning though, but the reader listener was told that Daniel, Mora s ex, had a son but then nothingwas ever said about it Maybe I was mistaken though I d love to know what Mora had been like before Daniel broke up with her When she was giving her final talk to him before she killed him, she was obviously crazy and just seemed to get worse as time went on I had an issue with Mora and then Jeremy, Mora specifically I get she was crazy but I felt the author might have overdone it with all the delusional thoughts she expressed Constantly talking about how she d wanted to give him everything, how much she d loved him andthan his Russian bride , etc I got it and I m sure everyone else did , the lady was a fruit loop Then, it was like her craziness was killed off and up popped Jeremy and her own craziness over Cruz I was glad when both of those characters died Speaking of crazy, I m hoping the author goes intodetail regarding Angela and what went on prior to the zombie apocalypse given she had no problem killing people Considering she changed into a zombie at the very end of book 1, I wouldn t be surprised if nothingabout her previous life were mentioned but upset at the same time. When Raven and Sky were in the hotel, the reader listener learned the zombies could open doors, yet it was sometime later when one of the characters asked another character if zombies could do this and they had essentially said no From that moment on, it was like the opening door zombies never existed THIS BOOK WAS AWESOME I CANT WAIT FOR MORE TO COME OUT THE CONCEPT OF MAIL ORDER BRIDES FROM RUSSIA BEING INFECTED WITH THE VIRUS AND SENT OVER TO INFECT THESE DUMB JERKS IS CLASSIC OF COUSE, EVERYONE ELSE GETS CONTAMINATED TOO IT S A VERY DIFFERENT AND COOL IDEA FOR THE ZOMBIE APOCOLYPSE I LOVE SOME OF THE CHARACTERS AS WELL RECOMMEND TO ZOMBIE FANS. Mail Horror Bride One Nation Under Zombies, Book 1 by Raymond Lee and narrated by Mark Westfield is an interesting take on zombies Definitely recommend if you re looking for a new Z adventure Russia has found a way to infect mail order brides with a virus that turns the brides, their husbands, and their children into zombies From there, chaos ensues The story is told through different characters various ages with some of the stories intertwining It s difficult to pick a favorite as they Mail Horror Bride One Nation Under Zombies, Book 1 by Raymond Lee and narrated by Mark Westfield is an bring something unique to the book You may find yourself rooting for some of them to be taken out by the Z s or others in their group And for those who dislike cliffhangers, be aware it ends in one I m OK with it and you should be too because it is a great book The narrator, Mark Westfield, did a good job overall A couple times the transitions were a little rough confusing I would listen to him again. The book went by fast and before I knew it, it was over good thing I didn t quite know what to expect also a good thing I would check out book two in a heart beat and recommend this if you are a fan of zombies, character driven books, or looking for something new in the fantasy genre.Parental guidance trigger warnings This is a book for adults who like a little darker themes Death, guns, domestic violence plays a large role for one character in the first half of the book , one character has a severe hatred for mail order brides calls them sluts, whore, skank, and so on , some religious talk, and psychopathic tendencies in a couple characters I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review Thank you for allowing me to listen and review the book The premise is that for the past five years Russian mail order brides have been intentionally infected with a virus that when the carrier dies, due to natural causes or on order, they reanimate becoming zombies This is quite the bizarre way to invade our country eh The characters are diverse and possess a variety of mental and social handicaps Besides dealing with the zombies, they fight among themselves A sub plot, involving an organization known as CROSS, surfaces throughout the story CRO The premise is that for the past five years Russian mail order brides have on zombies I haven t been able to jump on the zombie bandwagon, and I don t watch TWD I ll watch a zombie movie once every couple of years I really have to be in the right mood for it, and it doesn t come by often This is the only reason why it took me so long to read and finish Mail Horror Bride When I wasn t reading it, I was forcing myself to get into one of those zombie moods because I reall I am a huge fan of the paranormal and paranormal supernatural books I am not, however, that big on zombies I haven t been able to jump on the zombie bandwagon, and I don t watch TWD I ll watch a zombie movie once every couple of years I really have to be in the right mood for it, and it doesn t come by often This is the only reason why it took me so long to read and finish Mail Horror Bride When I wasn t reading it, I was forcing myself to get into one of those zombie moods because I really really really wanted to continue the book Even with my aversion to zombies, I was totally, 100% into this book Why even read it if you don t like zombies, you may be asking Well, the author, Raymond Lee is actually a nom de plume for Crystal Rain Love I am a big fan of hers, I have reviewed a couple of her books on the blog in the past Plus the premise and cover intrigued me I decided if anyone was going to make me like zombies it would be this person So I got myself a copy and I read it, and I am so glad I did The book is split into two sections, the outbreak of the zombie virus and then a longer section on the survival The book the first in the series follows a handful of characters through their experiences on discovering the virus and surviving it Eventually these characters form two groups and the story jumps back and the forth between the two groups of people who are unaware of the other s existence. What I love about this book is the reality of it, which sounds weird because the book is about a zombie apocalypse, but hear me out The zombies aren t there because of voodoo or anything supernatural It is a virus, generated in a lab by the Russians who then injected the virus that they can detonate themselves into a bunch of mail order brides Those brides then came to the States and infected anyone they had sexual relations with One the Russians pushed their big red button, the virus was activated and every mail order bride and every person that slept with them and the people that slept with those people turned into zombies I can totally see a country trying to bring down the US a la Trojan Horse method from within On top of that, the characters are some of the realest characters I have ever read It s not a bunch of goody goody hero types, trying to survive You ve got people like Maura, a jilted ex who got dumped for a mail order bride That lady isthan a few crayons short of a pack Heck, the pack may be empty cept for one broken crayon The white one The one nobody uses You also have Raven, a 19 year old who is on vacation with her little 9 year old sister when the outbreak happens She s a good kid with a good heart, but just a kid, trying to protect her little sister There s Cruz Thomas, the big action movie star who is a total Diva, all about himselfor is he And is he as sane as he appears The cast makes the situation a lotreal by what each character chooses to do during the exact same circumstance Because the story jumps from character to character, most everyone s thoughts are shared at some point You can see what they re thinking, what their motivations are, who they truly are as a person They re all flawed, even the younger ones, and that makes this story all therealistic in my eyes There s black, white, and grey areas, and I absolutely love that about this book I also love the relationships that are developed They re not always good relationships, just because the world is full of zombies doesn t mean that everyone can put their differences aside and work together Crazy, evil assholes will still be crazy evil assholes But there s a few relationships in the story that I absolutely love ahem Raven Cruz and Raven Damian Uncensored Comments Straight From Kindle 1 Apparently zombies sink, they don t float 2 Then we don t need one We ve already got people eating monsters chasing us The last thing we need is for one of us to shoot the other in the ass LOL 3 Why don t zombies ever try to eat one another 4 A few times during the first half of the book the dialogue felt a little fake at times Maybe too much talking zombie apocalypse, don t nobody got time for a monologue 5 I killed Miley Cyrus ROFLMAO OMG I laughed so hard Probably the funniest section of the book 6 I mean, as she died, did she twerk OMG BAHAHAHAHAHA Tears, I m in freaking tears 7 Would a 19 year old in 2014 know who Quincy Jones is 8 CROSS stuff isn t my cup of tea I had the thought towards the beginning of the book, by the end of it, I wasintrigued and kind of thought the author set things up to do a CROSS spinoff 9 Bitch still insane 10 Ooooh, that wasn t sketchy at all 11 Really hope a zombie eats Maura s ass 12 Somebody hand me a gun, I ll shoot Maura myself 13 Damn straight No need to add MORE blood to the equation Plus you am hooked The first installment ended in a cliffhanger and I need need NEED to know what the heck happens next. Also, the award for most hated character in 2015 goes to Maura Gawd, I don t think I have ever wanted someone to die as much as I wanted her to die Every time she opens her mouth I pray for her demise A zombie, one of the survivors, a dog, a tree, anything Just kill her, plllllease
