Cade And Braden is a really cute and sweet character who is his Cades total opposite You cant help but love the instant connection these two guys have They fall fully and completely for each other Your heart will hurt for Braden hearing the things he s had to go through, but you will end up confident that Cade is the perfect Match for him in every way 2.5 Stars Sigh I wanted to like this book and I am bummed that it let me down. The characters were interesting enough and the plot was pretty standard romantic suspense stuff, but the writing style irked the heeeeeeeeell out of me I hate when authors tell me about the conversations characters have rather than simply write good dialogue and let me experience it for myself it creates a barrier between myself as a reader and the characters and actually dials back my emotional connection to 2.5 Stars Sigh I wanted to like this book and I am bummed that it let me down. The characters were interesting enough and the plot was pretty standard Hollywood blockbuster esque scenes in the book which were supposed to come off as I don t know incredibly authentic , but instead came off as laughably unrealistic I mean, who the heck would take a time out from searching for their missing loved one in the first 24 hours of their disappearance to work out No one, that s who I can see if the person was missing for weeks or months or years at some point people have to move on with their daily lives but no sane person that gives a fuck is going to take an hour to punch a heavy bag when someone they love literally has hours to live And yet, this action was presented to the readers with an unspoken See how evolved my main character is He s feeling all of these emotions, so he s going to channel it into something productive so that he can get it all out and then get back to being awesome Um, yeah No.That s not how people work Also, I am so over the cookie cutter fiercely loyal and over protective female BFF and the quirky, tells it like it is Nana characters they reek of trying too hard itis At this point they are an m m romance cliche that needs to die David left me with a cliffhanger, though, so I may have to hate read Book 2 While keep his hands off Braden but will Braden be able to trust another man with his heart or his body I picked up this book months ago For whatever reason, it didn t hold my attention But after a friend finished it and recommended it to me, I decided to try again I m glad I did I really enjoyed it this go round. It takes well into the book before there are any sexy times but it was worth the wait These two are definitely hot together I love, love, love Cade He s that broody, growly alpha that I eat up.Braden got on my nerves just a tiny bit but I understood where he was coming from It had only been a year since he left his abusive ex so naturally he would have insecurities and doubts I can also understand how it would be hard to trust Cade after his experience.I will definitely be moving on to book 2 This was my second time reading this and I enjoyed it just as much the second time around as I did this first time Braden is a baker and co owner of Sugar n Spice Caf with his bestie Maya who is a genius with coffee and tea He is also recovering from some really bad relationships and one in particular that has left him a bit broken Braden is trying his best to move on and get his life back together but he s finding it hard to do now that a stalker has set his sights on him and keeps leaving This was my second time reading this and I enjoyed it just as much the second time around as I did this first time Braden is a baker and co owner of Sugar n Spice Caf with his bestie Maya who is a genius with coffee and tea He is also recovering from some really bad relationships and one in particular that has left him a bit broken Braden is trying his best to move on and get his life back together but he s finding it hard to do now that a stalker has set his sights on him and keeps leaving love notes for him to find The stress of the situation is taking its toll on Braden and his health He is a type 1 diabetic and stress makes him prone to migraines He is slowly shutting himself down and distancing himself and dealing with it all in silence That is until Maya comes across the notes and being scared out of her mind for Braden, she confronts him about them and demands he call the cops and get help This turns into a bit of a screaming match with Braden in denial of needing help This is were Maya s older brother Cooper and his best friend and business partner, Zavier a.k.a Cade enter Zavier McCade Cade is retired from the military and is now the successful co owner of Custos Securities They provide protection and state of the art security systems He owns this company with Cooper So when both men are briefed on what is happening to Braden they automatically take on the case for free and Cade makes it known he is the lead on this case and will be Braden s 24 7 shadow Why Because right when Cade entered the kitchen all he could see was Braden He was instantly attracted to him and knowing he is in danger made his protective alpha come out in full force Braden isn t too happy with how things are working out for him at the moment He didn t want to bring attention to his problem and sure doesn t want a big intimidating man being in his space 24 7 Especially this attractive beast But he understands the danger and gives in.With them spending every waking minute together they become close and a relationship builds between them They are very sweet together and sometimes it gets to be a bit too sweet for this cynical gal But what really made this book work for me was that it has a lot of different interesting characters Also although it seemed that the relationship came on quick it still felt like things worked at a natural pace It was very much about the build up of the relationship and not about sex or even love It was them building trust between one another and learning about the other So it worked for me Plus it helped that the majority of the characters were all likable If you haven t given this book or series a chance I recommend you do decisions and actions and yet with this book, first novel by the newcomer Luna David, I found none of the typical issues and every kind of good I enjoyed myself, and had to force myself to stop reading to do mundane things like sleep, eat, get dressed, etc At a hefty 112,000 words, Trusting Cade is a delightful trip through the everyman s life, filled with real life issues like medical conditions, running a business, and imperfect past relationships Cade, our aforementioned hero, is capable, charming, efficient and intelligent and needs someone to love All his past relationships had the flaw of being with men just like him as he is a former soldier, most of the men he dated were soldiers as well, and none of those relationships lasted Cooper, best friend and co owner of Custos Securities, brings to light Cade s issue he s looking in the wrong places for love He needs someone who needs him in return enter Braden.Braden has been suffering in silence for months Plagued by a stalker, Braden has barely managed to hold himself together until his secret is exposed by his best friend Braden is diabetic, suffers migraines, and is a sexual abuse survivor and while this may make you believe him to be a pushover and helpless, he is anything but Braden just needs help and gets it with Cade My only issues with the book were the author s tendencies to have her characters speak in monologues typical responses were farverbose than a natural conversation tends to be, especially with multiple characters talking to each other Add in some minor head hopping that is usually served best by sections breaks and changing of POVs, these two minor issues did not detract from my overall enjoyment and I was able to ignore them easily as I read the book.Alpha male guardian meets adorable and in trouble bakery owner, and coffee cake fueled passion erupts Threats, break ins, kidnappings it happens With a delightful supporting cast of characters and a disturbing villain, Trusting Cade hit all my hot buttons for m m romance Sex, love, character development and a tension filled HFN ending that perfectly sets up Book Two, Trusting Cade is forever on my Re read List.4.75 James was the narrator so no problems there as far as I m concerned Mr James is one of those narrators who never fails to provide me with an enjoyable audio experience when it comes to the audio portion of things As for the story there were two issues that really dragged this story down for methe first one was the insta love and folks we are talking insta love here This was probably one of the fastest cases of love at first sight on record It whipped by so fast that it feels like I ve got a case of whiplash which resulted in the fact that for me the connection just wasn t there There were a couple of times when Cade felt like Braden didn t have as much faith in him as he should and Cade was all You should know by now and there sits me going He should know what by now He s had the relationship from hell and it s still stalking him, he s known you for 5 f ing minutes and you think he should know what That you re the end all, be all of boyfriends sorry but I think Cade needed to get over himself a little. My second issue was in regards to the events that transpired when they were searching for BradenI ve already had my little rant about that in an earlier comment so for now I m just going to say that not only was it unbelievable at times it was also laughable and not in a good way This should have been a very dramatic and pivotal point in the story It was the perfect chance for the author to make, what was until then an average story into something betterit was the the moment when things could have been saved or lostunfortunately for me it was the moment when things were well and truly lost and the story became locked in as being less than the solid 3 stars that it was until that point. Now having said all of that I m off to the second part of Cade and Braden s story in Protecting Braden so there s still a chance for the author to win me back I m willing to keep an open mind and she s already got a point in her favor because this one is also narrated by Tristan Jamesso, I know it s a win for the narration but I ll just have to wait and see how the story goes Freebie this month if you re a member of the GRRC group Freebie this month if you re a member of the GRRC group Urm I think this is a Goodreads mistake as I don t ever remember reading this one Will rectify that at some point to see if this 5 is justified {Free Pdf} ⛏ Trusting Cade still reeling from the fact that Luna David is a first time author, overall this was delivered with confidence and a well thought out storyline, which I would normally expect from aestablished author, I really liked it.Yes, there were moments when her inexperienced showed, especially the sometimes, somewhat stilted conversations between Cade and Braden, that didn t sit quite right with me, but hey it s her first book, she s entitled to make a few errors, that s how we learn, right Ha I m still reeling from the fact that Luna David is a first time author, overall this was delivered with that, I got that warm feeling you get when reading that very first page, I was hooked, I knew it was going to be a winner and I was right. The premise of the storyline appealed to me on so many levels alpha man who works for a Security Company starts protecting a Baker who has a nasty stalker after him Of course, this also being a romance, you could see immediately where the author was going to take us and you would be right..it gets personal, very personal.Luna David gave it her all sexy MCs, a fiend of a stalker, great supporting cast, sex and love, what else you could you possibly want You certainly get your money s worth, it s a long read but it kept me entertained throughout, no skipping pages for me I didn t want to miss a thing, there s so much going on I feel I should also point out that there is no definite HEA, it sof a HFN and though not a great fan of this type of ending normally, it worked well for this storyline and I m looking forward to reading book 2, to seeing how Cade and Braden is getting along and of course who else now needs protection and who is going to provide it Well done author, a magnificent achievement for your first book.4.5 stars from me I would like to thank the author for the privilege and opportunity of reviewing this ARC My review is an honest opinion of the book Threebooksovertherainbow.wordpress.com
